WHO ARE WE?

What’s A Trellis?

In a garden a trellis exists to provide a scaffolding for vines as they climb higher and support for trees as they bear fruit. They help to keep fruit out of reach of things that would destroy it (either rotting on the ground or pests). They allow fruit to flourish.

In the same way, this Trellis exists to support you as you climb from faith to faith and increasingly bear the fruit of the spirit. To be an aid to those planted in the garden of God’s Kingdom as they seek to bear the fruit of the Spirit in every sphere they’re called to.

Just like a horticultural trellis, this Trellis has 3 stiles, or stabilizing pillars, forming the frame to which the lattice, or the broader supporting structure, is attached. Here, our stiles are The Great Commandments Mark 12:30-31, The Great Commission Matthew 28:18-20, and The Great Compass Micah 6:8. The commandments tells us what to do, the commission tells us where to do it, and the compass tells us how to do it. So we believe that we are to:
love God with all of who we are and in the fullness of our capacity,
and love all of our neighbors to the degree and depth that we love ourselves
so that as we go wherever we’re called into the world, we make disciples of Jesus
by our commitment to acting justly, clinging to mercy, and walking humbly wherever we tread.

About the Co-Creator

Hi There! My name is Michaiah 🙂
Having served college students, church administrators, and pastors of both mega and community ministries for almost a decade, I have come to see places where people are longing for more. So in 2021 I felt God nudge me to build resources with Him to help bridge the gaps between the pulpit, the pews, and the populace. I’ve come to deeply believe that faithful and fruitful discipleship has to deeply connect people to each other far beyond Sunday morning if we are to truly make disciples of all nations.
I decidedly refer to myself as Trellis’s co-creator because this is very much an endeavor that was instigated by Holy Spirit and took shape in community. Innumerable conversations have formed the frames from which you’ll get to work if you decide to meander through The Garden. It’s my sincerest belief that we are most fruitful when we are intentional to be present to God, our selves, and those around us as we journey through life. I pray that Trellis supports you well as you grow forward.
